Bear noticed close to Baton Rouge church


BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A bear stays atop a tree in a Baton Rouge neighborhood on Friday afternoon after forcing a close-by church to take precautionary measures.

The bear sighting prompted a lockdown at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Mollylea Drive Friday morning.

As of 4:30 p.m., the Baton Rouge Police Division confirmed the bear remains to be within the tree.

The church at present hosts a summer season camp program and wrote in a Fb submit, “We had a beary attention-grabbing morning on campus! Don’t fear—everyone seems to be protected and sound. Wildlife and Fisheries, together with state officers, are actively dealing with the scenario.”

Earlier this week, the Central Police Division confirmed a Black bear was seen strolling close to Glen Watts Street and Hooper Street.

The Louisiana Division of Wildlife and Fisheries shared the next ideas for anybody who might are available in contact with a bear:

  • Take away any attractants from round your private home, similar to pet meals, trash, and fowl feeders.
  • Don’t method a bear.
  • Don’t feed a bear.
  • Contact native authorities if a bear is seen in your space.
