Man discovered responsible in duct tape manslaughter case



JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A person was discovered responsible of manslaughter on Thursday following an investigation into the 2018 duct tape associated demise of 29-year-old Mohamed “Mo” Mezlini.

In line with the Jefferson Parish District Lawyer’s Workplace, 47-year-old Saleh “Sam” Omar had been hostile towards Mezlini within the weeks main as much as the incident, planning a confrontation that concerned tying the sufferer up.

On Sept. 8, 2018, at a vacant suite adjoining to Omar’s cellphone restore store within the 90 block of Terry Parkway, Mezlini was attacked by Omar, sure with duct tape, and left within the suite together with his mouth and nostril lined by duct tape, unable to breathe.

Omar was arrested two weeks later after being present in Panama. He was taken again to Jefferson Parish and charged with second-degree homicide, though the over the course of the jury’s deliberations, he was ultimately convicted of manslaughter as a substitute.

Omar’s sentencing is scheduled for Might 14.
