NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Crews with the New Orleans Fireplace Division responded to 2 partial constructing collapses on Sunday, Jan. 5.
The NOFD reported that first collapse occurred at a constructing within the 800 block of Decatur Avenue, the place contractors informed crews {that a} trash chute separated from the constructing, inflicting a part of the second-floor balcony and its railing to break down round 12:11 p.m.
In accordance with NOLA Prepared, residents within the space are being requested to take security precautions because of the fallen scaffolding on the nook of Decatur and Madison streets.
NOFD officers stated the 800 block of Decatur Avenue will likely be closed till crews have deemed it secure.
The NOFD reported the second partial collapse occurred within the 2000 block of Frenchmen Avenue within the Seventh Ward round 1:12 p.m.
In accordance with crews, the skin wall of a one-story house fell onto an occupied double.
NOFD officers stated neighbors informed them the one-story house, occupied by three folks and a canine, “had been in a state of disrepair since Hurricane Katrina.”
Crews stated that solely the canine was inside the house on the time of the collapse and was safely eliminated.
No accidents have been reported from each collapses.
