AMITE, La. (WGNO) — A former Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Workplace Corrections deputy was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 27, following a contraband investigation on the parish jail.
In keeping with the TPSO, the previous deputy, 21-year-old Tajah Phillips, was arrested following the submission of a number of suggestions from the general public over a number of days, saying that Phillips had allegedly been promoting and offering unlawful gadgets to inmates on the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
An investigation allegedly confirmed the accusations, resulting in her instant termination and arrest. Phillips was booked on one depend of introducing contraband to a correctional facility and malfeasance in workplace. She had been a corrections officer since June.
The investigation stays ongoing.
