'Largest fentanyl bust' carried out in St. Tammany Parish

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Two males are behind bars following a site visitors cease that led to the most important drug bust for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Workplace.

In keeping with deputies, on Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Legal Patrol Division unit witnessed a gold GMC Yukon on Dr. T.J. Smith Sr. Expressway close to Slidell allegedly committing a number of site visitors violations and pulled them over.

Narcotics unit detectives assisted within the site visitors cease after a search of the car resulted within the discovering of roughly 16,000 (practically 5 kilos) of pressed fentanyl drugs. Deputies stated they had been disguised as counterfeit Oxycodone and had been hid within the sunroof.

Driver, 21-year-old Tawan Anthony and passenger 41-year-old Reggibals Henry had been each arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Middle.

Anthony was booked on fees of:

  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II CDS (Fentanyl)
  • Transactions involving proceeds from Drug Transactions
  • Driving on teh proper aspect of the highway
  • Following autos to shut

Henry was booked on fees of possession with the intent to distribute a scheduled II CDS (fentanyl).

Additional investigation revealed Henry and Anthony had been on lively supervision with the Louisiana Workplace of Probation & Parole on the time of their arrest.

Anthony is on probation till 2026 on a cost of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana in Pearl River. Henry is on parol till 2028 following a conviction of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and possession of methamphetamine from a 2017 arrest by STPSO detectives.

“Fentanyl is a really harmful drug and it’s no secret that it’s in our neighborhood. Our narcotics detectives are devoted to figuring out and arresting these people who’re promoting it in our neighborhood. These arrests resulted in a really massive amount of this lethal drug being taken off the streets and two sellers being positioned again behind bars,” stated Sheriff Randy Smith.
