Restore venture wraps up at Grand Isle Public Fishing Pier

GRAND ISLE, La. (WGNO) — Grand Isle Port Fee leaders introduced that repairs have been made to the Public Fishing Pier, making it compliant with the People with Disabilities Act.

Port officers mentioned the repairs come after the pier, positioned on the finish of Smith Lane on Bayou Rigaud, was broken by Hurricane Ida in August 2021.

The venture was designed to restore the pier and guarantee it was compliant with ADA requirements.

Port officers mentioned the repairs included changing handrails, elements of the walkway, overhead lighting, resurfacing the car parking zone, restriping parking areas and putting in new surveillance cameras.

They mentioned the Grand Isle Port Fee acquired funding for the venture from a Federal Emergency Administration Company Public Help grant, the state and Jefferson Parish.

“We’re glad to have the ability to proceed to improve our public entry amenities for tourism and for them to have the ability to take pleasure in across the clock fishing at this common spot,” mentioned Port Government Director Weldon Danos.
