BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash in St. Helena Parish that left one lifeless.
Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 16 close to LA Hwy 449 round 2:40 a.m. Sunday. LSP mentioned Carey S. Austin, 33, of Independence, was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 when it veered off the fitting facet of the highway and hit a tree.
In line with state police, Austin was not sporting a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased on the scene. A restrained passenger was critically injured and brought to the hospital.
A routine toxicology pattern was taken from Austin for testing, LSP mentioned.
