NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Division of Public Works (DPW) introduced that each one faculty zone visitors cameras have been deactivated on Friday, Might 24.
This is because of faculties being out for the summer time break.
Cameras will flip off at 4:45 p.m. and can be reactivated as soon as faculty resumes in August.
An ordinance signed by New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell on Might 16, 2023, expanded faculty zone eligibility from grades Okay-7 to Okay-12.
The ordinance will permit for the set up of signage, designated crosswalks, stripping and different visitors management; gadgets in any respect elementary and secondary faculties within the metropolis.
DPW officers stated the ordinance can be absolutely applied in the beginning of the 2024 to 2025 faculty yr.
