Suspect in August strangulation dying now in New Orleans police custody

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The person accused of strangling a girl to dying in August has been transported again to New Orleans.

36-year-old Courtney Cantrell has been booked into Central Lockup by NOPD in connection to the dying of 44-year-old Patricia Fitzgerald.

On Aug. 19, Fitzgerald’s physique was found underneath the wharf close to Esplanade Avenue and the Mississippi River.

NOPD officers started a murder investigation after the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Workplace found the lady had chunk marks on her abdomen. The coroner listed Fitzgerald’s explanation for dying as “blunt drive accidents and guide strangulation.”

Via an investigation, detectives recognized Cantrell because the suspect. He was situated and arrested in Poplar, Montana on Monday, Sept. 16.

On Oct. 22, he was extradited from the Roosevelt County Jail in Wolf Level, Montana to New Orleans the place he’ll face a cost of second-degree homicide.
